the next Conjuring movie, “Last Rites,” is kind of a big deal. The folks at New Line, who make the movies, are saying it’s the end of their “first chapter” for the series. Yeah, like how Marvel does their phases!
This movie is actually the ninth one if you count all the sequels and spin-offs, but it’s the fourth main Conjuring film. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are back as Ed and Lorraine Warren, and apparently, early test screenings are going crazy good.

The head of New Line, Richard Brener, was super excited when he talked about it. He said, “We’re still working on it, like really early stuff, but people are already loving it. So, even though this is the end of what we’re calling chapter one, we really hope we get to make more.”
He even used Marvel’s “phase two” thing when talking about what might come next, but he said that’s still “to be decided.”
Basically, they’re leaving the door wide open for more movies about the Warrens. Remember, James Wan turned their stories into the first Conjuring movie. And they’ve got tons of material, like the Amityville Horror and the Enfield Poltergeist, which was in “Conjuring 2.”
From that first movie, we got “Conjuring 2,” “The Devil Made Me Do It,” the three Annabelle movies, and “The Nun” series. So, they’ve built a whole universe.
“The Conjuring: Last Rites” hits theaters on September 5th, so get ready!
