Last month, La Quimera didn’t hit its planned release date of April 26, which was a bit of a letdown. The team at Reburn shared a quick apology on Discord, but they didn’t explain much at the time. Some industry folks guessed the game might launch later in 2025 instead. Turns out, the “version 1.0” review code from last month didn’t go over well—it had issues with both content and performance. Plus, a closed beta in mid-April was shut down just 24 hours after starting because early testers ran into a bunch of problems. As promised after the missed launch, Reburn has now given a bigger update—and La Quimera is back, this time in Early Access!

On the revamped Steam page, Reburn shared their new plan, which might shift depending on how things go: “La Quimera, our story-focused sci-fi FPS, is now live on Steam in Early Access! We expect to stay in Early Access for up to 18 months. That could change based on your feedback and how development goes, but we’re aiming for a fully polished game by then. Right now, you can play the first four levels of the campaign, which mix story and gameplay seamlessly. It’s about five hours of story-driven action, giving you a taste of what we’re working toward. The current version is stable and ready to play, though we’ll likely need to fix some bugs and tweak things as we go.” You can try this work-in-progress game for $29.99 on Steam.

In their video description, Reburn says: “La Quimera is now out on PC via Steam in Early Access. Dive into a fresh adventure from Reburn, with a world and story crafted by Nicolas Winding Refn and E.J.A. Warren. Use your exosuit and weapons to fight through the Latin American city of Nuevo Caracas and beyond.”
In a Steam event update, the Reburn team added: “This Early Access launch is a big moment for us. Your feedback will help us shape what’s next—more missions, a stronger story, better combat, and deeper co-op play. Thanks for supporting us—we’re excited to see you in Nuevo Caracas!”
What do you think about jumping into this sci-fi adventure? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
