After years of rumors and leaks, Bethesda has finally let the cat out of the bag—the worst-kept secret in gaming for 2025 is official! We’re getting a remastered version of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I’m so excited to share this with you!
On April 21, Bethesda posted on their social media with a link to a livestream happening tomorrow on Twitch and YouTube. The image for the stream shows the Roman numeral IV and a character with demonic eyes in a steel helmet—artwork that matches some leaked Oblivion Remastered images from last week. If you check the YouTube link, the stream is titled “All will be revealed…” So, it’s pretty clear Bethesda is about to announce a big Oblivion remaster.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remastered livestream kicks off tomorrow at 11 a.m. EST on Bethesda’s Twitch and YouTube channels. As I’m writing this, about 24 hours before it goes live, nearly 7,000 people are already waiting to watch. I’m guessing tomorrow’s stream will not only confirm the game but also show off some gameplay and talk about the updates they’ve made to the 2006 open-world RPG. From past leaks, it sounds like the remake is built in Unreal Engine with better combat, stealth, and more.
There’s even a chance Bethesda might surprise us by releasing the remastered game tomorrow. Several leakers and reports have hinted that they’re planning a “shadow-drop,” meaning they’d launch it right away without a big marketing buildup. We’ll find out tomorrow if that’s still the plan!
It’s been a long journey to this announcement, with plenty of leaks along the way. Back in 2023, a Reddit user mentioned an Oblivion remake. Later that year, it came up again in a leak from the Microsoft/FTC trial. In January, Kotaku confirmed the game was real through their sources. Then in March, there was talk of a surprise launch. On April 15, screenshots of the remake popped up online, and the very next day, the Xbox support account on Twitter said the game was real and coming soon. So, yeah, tomorrow’s reveal won’t exactly shock anyone.
