Western Digital is gearing up to launch the WD Blue SN5100, the next step up from the WD Blue SN5000, which hit the market back in June 2024. The SN5000 impressed with speeds of up to 5.5 GB/s for reads and 5 GB/s for writes on its top 4 TB model, but the SN5100 takes it further. Even the entry-level 500 GB version now offers up to 6.6 GB/s sequential reads—quite a jump from the SN5000’s 5 GB/s reads and 4 GB/s writes for the same capacity. This SSD comes with an M.2 NVMe Gen 4 x4 interface, keeping it fast and reliable. Plus, Western Digital is blending in more SanDisk branding for its client SSDs, swapping the main WD name for SanDisk while keeping the familiar WD Blue label.

What do you think about this speedy new SSD? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
