The new season of Rick and Morty is here, bringing all the things we love about the show! After Season 7 showed the series could stand strong without one of its co-creators, the big question was whether it could keep up the same quality. I’ve seen some of Season 8’s first episodes, and I’m happy to say the magic we love is still there.
Standalone Episodes with the Same Rick and Morty Vibe
What’s in store this season? A bit of everything! You’ll see Morty and Summer dealing with the chaos of one of Rick’s inventions going haywire, plus a wild Easter adventure that could only happen to Jerry. There are also hints about what happened to some Ricks and Mortys from the missing Citadel, and of course, the usual journeys through tricky moral dilemmas the show is known for.
Each episode has its own unique humor and charm, sticking to the classic Rick and Morty style. Unlike last season, where we noticed a central theme, these episodes feel more independent, giving the show room to explore fresh ideas. They feel lighter, even without watching the whole season yet. The only episode tied to the “main arc” in this batch is “The Rick, The Mort & The Ugly,” but the others stand on their own.
Season 8 feels sharp, fun, and carefree. It’s playing things a bit safe so far, avoiding complicated storylines in these early episodes, but that doesn’t mean it’s missing the clever details we’ve always loved. The focus on creative ideas and humor is still spot-on, which is exactly what we’re here for.
Mark your calendars—the wait is almost over! Season 8 of Rick and Morty premieres on Adult Swim in the U.S. this Sunday, May 25. What do you think about the new season so far? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
