Capcom just dropped some exciting news at Summer Game Fest 2025—not only did they reveal Resident Evil 9, but they also gave us a release date! This next chapter in the Resident Evil series, called Resident Evil Requiem, is set to launch on February 27, 2026. Capcom has been on a roll with the franchise in recent years, and they’re eager to keep that success going.
The trailer kicks off with a man walking through a busy office, heading straight to the cubicle of FBI Agent Grace Ashcroft. He tells her, “Another body has been found,” and insists she check out the crime scene herself.
Suddenly, Grace seems to relive painful memories of the Remwood Hotel, where her mother was killed eight years ago. Next, we see her struggling to escape some kind of upside-down trap, adding to the tension. A creepy voice then says, “I know now that you’re the one I’ve been searching for. The special one. The chosen one, Miss Ashcroft.”

The music picks up as eerie shots of a rundown, mostly abandoned Raccoon City flash across the screen, with shadowy monsters lurking in the background. It looks amazing, and we can’t wait to revisit that spooky city!

Capcom has been killing it lately, and I’m hopeful Requiem will keep the streak alive. Over the past decade, they’ve delivered a string of impressive Resident Evil games, earning praise and strong sales with both new titles and remakes. It started with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in 2017, which brought back the survival-horror focus after Resident Evil 6 leaned too hard into action. That was followed by the Resident Evil 2 remake in 2019, a Resident Evil 3 remake in 2020, Resident Evil Village in 2021, and a Resident Evil 4 remake in 2023. I’m really excited to see if this next game keeps the momentum going.
Resident Evil Requiem will be available on February 27, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5.
What do you think about returning to Raccoon City? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
