Nintendo just showed off the Switch 2 on April 2, and wow—it’s packed with a custom NVIDIA chip that’s got a killer GPU. This thing’s built for amazing graphics and cool AI tricks, taking gaming to a whole new level.
They put a ton of work into this—1,000 engineer-years tweaking everything from the system to the chip, graphics, and tools for developers. The result? A console that can hit 4K when hooked to your TV and crank out 120 frames per second at 1080p when you’re playing handheld. Plus, it’s got HDR and AI to make everything look crisp and smooth.
Fancy Lighting and Smart AI Stuff
The Switch 2’s got these RT Cores that make lighting, shadows, and reflections look so real you’ll feel like you’re in the game. Then there’s the Tensor Cores—those power up AI features like DLSS, which sharpens the picture without slowing things down.
Those same Tensor Cores also do neat stuff like face tracking and cutting out backgrounds for video chats, making streaming or gaming with friends even better.
The original Switch already won over millions with its play-anywhere vibe, mixing TV and handheld gaming like a champ. Now, Nintendo’s doubling down with this upgrade.
Faster, Prettier, Smoother
This new console has 10 times the graphics oomph of the old Switch. That means buttery-smooth gameplay and way sharper visuals. The AI keeps it efficient, the RT Cores make everything pop with realistic lighting, and something called G-SYNC keeps handheld gaming tear-free and silky.
Helping Devs, Thrilling Players
Game makers get slick new tools—better engines, physics, and APIs—to whip up awesome titles faster. And for us players? The NVIDIA-powered Switch 2 brings the goods with next-level fun. Can’t wait to get our hands on it!
