If you’re a Game of Thrones fan, get ready for some excitement! During tonight’s Summer Game Fest, a new real-time strategy game called War for Westeros was unveiled, and it’s coming to PC via Steam in 2026. A cinematic trailer gave us a peek at one of the series’ epic battles, with a twist—you can change the outcome from what we saw in the TV show or books.
As Tywin Lannister’s smooth voice (thanks to Charles Dance) narrates the action, we see the Night King take control of Jon Snow, looking just like Kit Harington. No big deal, though—he’s survived death before! In War for Westeros, you’ll lead one of four factions: House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, or the Night King. You can build alliances, outsmart your enemies (or even friends), and command familiar heroes and armies across Westeros, from the icy Wall to bustling King’s Landing. Whether you play solo or jump into real-time multiplayer, the choice is yours.

“This time, you’re not just watching Game of Thrones—you’re stepping into the action,” said game director Ryan McMahon in a statement today. “With War for Westeros, you take the reins, whether you’re leading the Starks, Targaryens, or Lannisters, or even commanding the Night King and his undead army. You’ll have real power to reshape the fate of the realm!”

What do you think about taking control of Westeros? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
