Today at Gamescom, we got our first exciting peek at gameplay for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, set to launch on November 14, 2025! This new title will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox on PC, Battle.net, and Steam, with Xbox Play Anywhere support and day-one access for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Set in 2035, it picks up after the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6, bringing back the notorious terrorist Raul Menendez. The story follows David “Section” Mason, who leads an elite JSOC team on a covert mission to Avalon in the Mediterranean. There, they uncover a dark plot that threatens the world and forces them to face their own troubled past. Stepping in to save the day is The Guild, a powerful global tech giant.
Black Ops 7 is packed with fresh features, starting with a Co-op Campaign that you can enjoy solo or with up to four players. This mode introduces a global progression system, where every kill, objective, and breakthrough adds to your Global XP across the whole game. You’ll explore stunning locations like the streets of Japan and the Mediterranean coast, even diving into psychological settings. The classic Multiplayer returns with 16 new 6v6 maps and two 20v20 maps at launch, alongside the beloved Round-Based Zombies mode.
To learn more, we chatted with Treyarch Associate Creative Director Miles Leslie and Raven Software Lead Producer Natalie Pohorski. Here’s what they shared about the world of Black Ops 7.
Setting the Scene: Miles Leslie explained, “Black Ops 7 drops you into 2035, our take on the near future, about a decade after Black Ops 2. Even if you haven’t played it, the story stands on its own. With Raul Menendez back, you’ll face advanced tech, a growing global threat, and familiar characters dealing with their past. It’s a bold new chapter for everyone!”
David “Section” Mason’s Role: Natalie Pohorski added, “This is David Mason’s story. He’s been grappling with decisions from 2025 and the regrets that followed. With Menendez’s return and the world in chaos, David and his team must confront their deepest fears. It’s about facing the past and pushing through, and we’re thrilled to bring his depth back for new and returning players.”

Who Are The Guild? Pohorski shared, “The Guild first appeared in Black Ops 6 as a crime syndicate in 1990s Avalon. Now, over 40 years later, they’ve grown into a huge tech corporation offering top-notch protection and shaping the new world order.”
The game also teases unique psychological environments, building on Black Ops 6’s “Separation Anxiety” missions. Pohorski teased, “It’s all about embracing the madness. We loved the community’s reaction to those trippy levels, so we’re pushing the boundaries further in this Co-op Campaign for a wild ride.”

Co-op Campaign Details: Pohorski continued, “We’re so excited for the Co-op Campaign! You can play solo or with up to four friends, following our four main heroes as they unravel a mystery in Avalon, where past memories resurface. It builds to a new 32-player Endgame mode.”

What’s Endgame? Leslie said, “Endgame is a fresh twist on the Call Ops Campaign. As you complete missions, you unlock abilities for bigger challenges. It opens up Avalon for high-stakes squad missions where you can pick Operators, customize Loadouts, and boost your Combat Rating. It’s a new way to team up and test your skills!”
Global Progression: Leslie noted, “Global progression ties it all together. Everything you do—Campaign, Zombies, Multiplayer—helps level up weapons, complete Daily Challenges, and advance your Battle Pass. We’re even adding a new Campaign camo track with Mastery Camos to show off.”
Multiplayer Maps: Leslie highlighted, “We’re launching with 16 6v6 maps and two 20v20 maps for a new Skirmish mode. Expect diverse spots like Alaska, Avalon, Japan, and the Australian Outback. We’re also bringing back some Black Ops 2 favorites, reimagined in 2035 Japan—check out Raid in our Direct showcase!”
Overclock Upgrades: Leslie teased, “More details are coming at Call of Duty: NEXT, but take Active Camo as an example. Use it in Multiplayer to unlock a faster charge speed, then a recloak-after-firing upgrade. You pick one per match, and it’s exclusive to Multiplayer for now.”
Next-Level Omnimovement: Leslie added, “Omnimovement is back and better from Black Ops 6. We’ve added Wall Jump for evasion and Combat Roll for reduced fall damage in Skirmish’s 20v20 mode. We’ve also dropped default Tactical Sprint, letting you build it via the updated Perk system based on feedback.”
Zombies Mode: Leslie wrapped up, “Zombies returns with the biggest Round-Based map yet, Survival Maps, and Dead Ops Arcade 4. After Black Ops 6, the crew gets trapped in the Dark Aether, meeting alternate versions of Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo, and Dempsey. It’s going to get wild—stay tuned for more!”
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches November 14, 2025, across all listed platforms. What do you think about this action-packed reveal? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
