Samsung has unveiled its next-gen low-power memory for mobile devices—LPDDR6, built on a 12 nm process and clocking in at 10.7 Gbps. This speedy upgrade packs more input/output channels and smart dynamic power tuning that adjusts energy use on the fly based on what your phone is doing. Plus, it comes with strong built-in security to keep your data safe no matter the app.
Fun fact: Samsung’s tweaked LPDDR5X also hits 10.7 Gbps, matching the entry-level speed of this new LPDDR6. Just like we saw DDR4 and DDR5 overlap in performance, the best of the old often meets the start of the new.
Samsung says LPDDR6 is 21% more energy-efficient than LPDDR5X, so your device can run at the same speed while sipping one-fifth less power. Future versions could push up to 14 Gbps, leaving even overclocked LPDDR5X in the dust. We’ll get the full scoop at CES 2026, where Samsung plans to show off gadgets running this memory and share more cool features.
What do you think about this mobile memory boost? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
